Enhancing Tomato (<i>Solanum lycopersicum</i> L.) Fruit Yield and Quality and Blossom End Rot Control Using Different Biological Calcium Sources
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cultivated for its richness in nutrients, tomato culture is demanding fertilizer, especially calcium. Calcium deficiencies and physiological disorders cause serious diseases tomatoes. Blossom end rot (BER), susceptible cultivars, may severe economic losses. The goal of this study to determine the effect three organic calcium sources on growth quality fruit production Egg, snail sea shell powders extracts have been used as biological fertilizers. experiment was conducted a block factorial trial with replications. trials comprised two factors: source form (powder extract). results showed that parameters yield were improved by source, whatever form. Also, BER lower plants treated contrary control. However, eggshells best (mean) lowest rate (0.40%) than shell.

Abscisic acid triggers whole-plant and fruit-specific mechanisms to increase fruit calcium uptake and prevent blossom end rot development in tomato fruit.
Calcium (Ca) uptake into fruit and leaves is dependent on xylemic water movement, and hence presumably driven by transpiration and growth. High leaf transpiration is thought to restrict Ca movement to low-transpiring tomato fruit, which may increase fruit susceptibility to the Ca-deficiency disorder, blossom end rot (BER). The objective of this study was to analyse the effect of reduced leaf tr...

Calcium partitioning and allocation and blossom-end rot development in tomato plants in response to whole-plant and fruit-specific abscisic acid treatments
The mechanisms regulating Ca(2+) partitioning and allocation in plants and fruit remain poorly understood. The objectives of this study were to determine Ca(2+) partitioning and allocation in tomato plants and fruit in response to whole-plant and fruit-specific abscisic acid (ABA) treatments, as well as to analyse the effect of changes in Ca(2+) partitioning and allocation on fruit susceptibili...
متن کاملThe Effects of Saline Water Drip Irrigation on Tomato Yield, Quality, and Blossom-End Rot Incidence --- A 3a Case Study in the South of China
Saline water resources are abundant in the coastal areas of south China. Most of these resources still have not been effectively utilized. A 3-year study on the effects of saline water irrigation on tomato yield, quality and blossom-end rot (BER) was conducted at different lower limits of soil matric potential (-10 kPa, -20 kPa, -30 kPa, -40 kPa and -50 kPa). Saline water differing in electrica...

Blossom-end rot (BER) is one of the physiological disorders related to calcium (Ca) deficiency in the fruit which reduces yield and fruit quality of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). Every year, occurrence of BER in bell pepper of Shahreza greenhouses causes a loss to farmers of this vegetable. This experiment was conducted to elucidate the effects of foliar application of calcium sources and r...
